Review to Workshop: Designing with Maximum Design Freedom

Workshop “Designing with Maximum Design Freedom” - Developing New Products with the Lost Foam Process

Date:

13th / 14th of June 2017 in Landshut (BMW-Foundry)

In the Lost Foam casting process, lost foam models are formed in flasks with binderless sand and cast. The melt decomposes the model and fills the resulting mold cavity in detail.

Discover a young and innovative process and its possibilities in generating new products. Today, the Lost Foam Process allows the production of highly complex cast parts as prototypes, as well as in small and large series. It offers the design engineers the greatest possible freedom of design for multifunctional cast parts which can be realized in steel, cast iron, aluminum- and copper alloys. This process enables ducts and undercuts without using cores as well as weight reduction, function integration and the waiving of demolding drafts.

At this two-day workshop, the interested engineers, design  engineers and technicians will gain a detailed insight into the Lost Foam Casting Process. Experienced design engineers use Lost Foam cast part designs to provide an overview of all possibilities and limits in design.

A report on the event is available here (only German).
